About the role

The Senior Strategic Planner will lead significant strategic planning projects that promote sustainable development while preserving the unique character of the Macedon Ranges. This includes the preparation of planning scheme amendments, policies, and structure plans aligned with the Council’s strategic objectives. The role also provides support to the Coordinator by assisting in the management of team workflows, mentoring junior staff, and fostering a positive, collaborative team culture. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape long-term planning outcomes in a region renowned for its environmental and cultural significance.

About you

A highly skilled strategic planner with extensive experience in delivering complex land use planning projects, including planning scheme amendments and policy development. Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of relevant planning legislation, frameworks, and best practices. Possesses excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with internal teams, government agencies, and the community. As a proactive leader and mentor, committed to fostering a positive team environment and supporting the professional development of colleagues. Exhibits a positive mindset towards challenges and change, applying sound judgement to select the best options to progress work and resolve problems effectively. Strong analytical capabilities, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality outcomes aligned with organisational objectives.
