About the Role

The Open Space and Recreation team are looking to appoint a positive and solution orientated person to the role of Sports Club Liaison Officer for the month of October. This role works closely with the community and is often the first point of contact for sports clubs, volunteers and the community in the use of Council’s sporting, recreational and open space facilities. This community facing role provides timely support and positive outcomes for clubs and volunteers as required and is instrumental to the success of the Open Space and Recreation team.

About you 

To succeed in this role, applicants must have a strong understanding of sport and recreation and their impact on local communities. Well-developed oral and written communication skills are essential for resolving issues with staff and the community. Applicants should also possess the ability to gain cooperation and support from community groups, the public, and colleagues, and be able to handle inquiries effectively and courteously to ensure satisfactory outcomes. 

Key Tasks

  • Provide the initial point of contact for general community enquiries in the first instance and for sporting/recreation clubs in respect to recreation reserves and facilities
  • Monitor seasonal tenancy agreements with sporting/recreation clubs in use and management of Council’s recreation facilities where required.
  • Administer the casual reserve booking process for Council’s outdoor recreation reserves and parks.
  • Respond to customer enquiries (Customer Request Management) regarding service delivery and follow up where required with other departments of Council to ensure enquiries are acted upon.
