Macedon Ranges Shire Council, located in the picturesque Central Victoria region is an enviable place to live and work. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, experienced and self-motivated Local Laws Officer who wants to make a difference for people and animals in the community. This is your opportunity to join a high performing Local Laws team with a strong, healthy and positive team culture.
If you enjoy working in a fast paced, multi-disciplined team that works hard and has fun while getting the job done, then this is the team for you. As a Local Laws Officer, no two days are ever the same. The Local Laws Unit carries out investigations, education, and compliance activities that ensure safety and amenity across the Shire, which includes a good blend of animal management and welfare, littering, parking, and local laws matters. Using a contemporary regulatory approach, you will provide information, assistance and advice to the community, and achieve compliance through the enforcement of Acts, Regulations and Local Laws.
Officers often work autonomously and are responsible for investigating complaints, undertaking inspections, impounding animals, issuing infringements, preparing materials for briefs of evidence and presenting evidence in court. This role presents an excellent opportunity to expand your skill set and knowledge in this field. You will be required to hold the relevant qualifications and be willing to undergo the pre-employment checks as outlined in the position description. In addition, on a rotational basis, you will participate in the after-hours roster responding to emergencies. This requirement is compensated with an availability allowance on top of the Macedon Ranges Shire Enterprise Agreement rate of pay for this role level.
Benefits of working for Council:
You will join a supportive team working in the picturesque Macedon Ranges based at Council's Gisborne and Kyneton offices. Enjoy work life balance with a monthly RDO. You will also enjoy benefits such as discounts on memberships at Council’s gym and pool facilities, annual no-cost flu vaccinations, and access to an Employee Assistance Program.
Interviews will be conducted week commencing 29 April.
