About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead and inspire a high-performing Local Laws team. As a trusted leader, you will set clear direction, provide coaching and development, and empower your team to deliver outstanding outcomes for the community. Your leadership will ensure effective and efficient service delivery across animal management and welfare, littering and waste, parking, and broader local law matters. You will foster a positive, collaborative, and customer-focused culture, driving continuous improvement in both processes and service delivery. Balancing strategic oversight with hands-on in field operational leadership, you will guide the team in responding to, investigating, and resolving issues that impact safety and amenity across the Shire. Working closely with peers and stakeholders, you will champion innovation, strengthen community confidence, and lead your team to achieve lasting results.

About you

We are seeking an experienced people leader with a collaborative and coaching leadership style that brings out the best in a team. You will have experience working in a regulatory environment with a strong customer focus, excellent communication skills, and effective problem-solving ability. You will bring a high level of emotional intelligence able to maintain composure and resilience in an environment that can at times be emotionally charged. You will bring strong organisational and time management skills, with a proven ability to lead and support others in navigating high workloads while maintaining a focus on timely and effective outcomes. As a motivating and resilient leader, you will inspire your team to perform at their best, fostering accountability and collaboration. Macedon Ranges Shire is located in central Victoria, about an hour's drive north-west of Melbourne. Covering an area of around 1700 square kilometres, the shire is a semi-rural municipality known for its beautiful natural landscapes. The shire has an estimated population of around 51,500 people and resides on the lands of the Dja Dja Wurrung, Taungurung and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung peoples.
