This is an exciting opportunity to shape and grow the Macedon Ranges visitor economy through strategic partnerships, destination development and industry engagement initiatives. The role plays a vital part in supporting local businesses, enhancing the region's profile and delivering economic benefits that contribute to Council's long-term vision and community prosperity.

About you

The successful candidate will bring strong stakeholder engagement, tourism development and project coordination skills, along with a collaborative approach that aligns well with Council’s culture and values. They will demonstrate initiative, adaptability and a genuine passion for supporting and growing the visitor economy across the Macedon Ranges.

We support flexible working arrangements. This role is initially office-based for onboarding, with hybrid work available in the future once established in the role, subject to manager approval and operational needs.

Macedon Ranges Shire is located in central Victoria, about an hour's drive north-west of Melbourne. Covering an area of around 1700 square kilometres, the shire is a semi-rural municipality known for its beautiful natural landscapes. The shire has an estimated population of around 51,500 people and resides on the lands of the Dja Dja Wurrung, Taungurung and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung peoples. Industries providing local employment in the shire are health care and social assistance, education and training, retail trade, agriculture, forestry and fishing. Tourism is also acknowledged as an important and growing industry for the shire.
