About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead Council's Information Governance team and help shape the way information is managed across the organisation. Reporting to the Senior Governance Officer, Information Governance, you will oversee the lifecycle of Council's information assets, ensuring they are created, managed, stored and disposed of securely, ethically and in accordance with legislative requirements. Beyond compliance, you'll champion best practice, identify opportunities to improve systems and processes, provide expert advice to stakeholders, and foster a culture where responsible information management is embedded across Council. You'll also play an important leadership role by mentoring and developing your team while delivering projects that enhance governance, efficiency and service delivery. 

About you

You are an experienced Information Governance or Records Management professional who enjoys leading people, improving processes and delivering high-quality outcomes. You have a strong understanding of information governance legislation, records management principles and best practice, combined with the ability to provide practical advice and build trusted relationships across a diverse organisation. As a collaborative and supportive leader, you enjoy coaching others, fostering a positive team culture and driving continuous improvement. With excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills, you're equally comfortable managing day-to-day operations, leading change initiatives and working with stakeholders to strengthen Council's information governance practices.

We support flexible working arrangements. This role is initially office-based for onboarding, with hybrid work available in the future once established in the role, subject to manager approval and operational needs.

Macedon Ranges Shire is located in central Victoria, about an hour's drive north-west of Melbourne.
