About the role

We are looking for a dynamic, experienced leader to provide strategic support to a dedicated team responsible for facilitating partnerships between Council and the community, delivering community development and youth services, managing creative programs and venues, and leading Council’s emergency management and recovery initiatives. This leadership position is diverse and rewarding, offering the opportunity to grow the breadth of your management experience in the local government sector. You will set strategic direction, develop policies and programs, lead community consultation, manage budgets, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure high-quality, innovative, and responsive service delivery across the department. Other duties may be required under the Emergency Management provisions.

You are a values-driven, strategic leader with extensive experience in community engagement, program delivery, and team management. You can inspire and support a skilled team to deliver best-practice outcomes while fostering a positive, collaborative environment. Qualifications and experience aligned with the portfolio areas, including community development, creative programs, or emergency management, will be highly regarded. You thrive in dynamic environments, can navigate complex stakeholder relationships, and are committed to delivering professional, ethical, and community-focused outcomes.

Macedon Ranges Shire is located in central Victoria, about an hour's drive north-west of Melbourne. Covering an area of around 1700 square kilometres, the shire is a semi-rural municipality known for its beautiful natural landscapes.
