About the role
Make your mark on how Macedon Ranges Shire Council communicates, connects and builds trust with its community. As Coordinator Communications, you’ll lead Council’s strategic and operational communications function, shaping campaigns, media and public messaging, internal communications, digital content and brand across the organisation.
Leading a talented communications team, you’ll provide trusted advice to the Executive Leadership Team, senior leaders and Councillors on complex, sensitive and high-profile issues. You’ll have the opportunity to influence how Council responds to emerging issues, major projects, service changes and community priorities, while driving contemporary communication practices, strong editorial standards and continuous improvement
About you
You’re a strategic communications leader who knows how to turn complex information into clear, engaging and purposeful communication. You bring strong judgement, exceptional writing and presentation skills, and the confidence to advise senior leaders on sensitive issues while keeping community trust at the forefront.
You’re also a people leader who enjoys developing others, managing competing priorities and creating a high-performing, responsive team. With experience across digital communications, media, social media and strategic communications, you’ll bring a contemporary approach, strong relationship-building skills and the ability to navigate a complex organisation. Experience in local government or another similarly complex environment would be highly regarded.

We support flexible working arrangements. This role is initially office-based for onboarding, with hybrid work available in the future once established in the role, subject to manager approval and operational needs.
