About the role

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Director Corporate Services provides strategic leadership across a diverse and critical portfolio including Finance and Reporting, Governance and Performance, People and Wellbeing, Digital Technology Services, Procurement, and Audit and Risk. This pivotal executive role is responsible for shaping and delivering the corporate services strategy that enables Council to operate effectively, sustainably and in alignment with its strategic priorities. Working closely with the CEO, Executive Leadership Team, Councillors and key stakeholders, you will drive organisational performance through strong financial stewardship, robust governance frameworks, contemporary people practices and effective digital and business systems. This is a rare opportunity to influence organisation-wide strategy, strengthen long-term financial sustainability, lead organisational capability uplift and help shape the future direction of one of Victoria’s most highly regarded regional councils 

About you

You are a highly accomplished and contemporary executive leader with a proven track record of leading complex corporate services functions within a large and multifaceted organisation. With strong expertise in financial management, governance, organisational performance and strategic planning, you bring the ability to balance long-term vision with operational excellence. You are a collaborative and influential leader who builds trusted relationships, fosters a high-performing and accountable culture, and inspires teams to deliver outstanding outcomes. Your commercial acumen, strategic mindset and sound judgement enable you to navigate complexity, manage risk effectively and support informed decision-making. Most importantly, you are passionate about public value and committed to delivering exceptional outcomes for the community through strong leadership, innovation and continuous improvement.

Macedon Ranges Shire is located in central Victoria, about an hour's drive north-west of Melbourne. Covering an area of around 1700 square kilometres, the shire is a semi-rural municipality known for its beautiful natural landscapes. The shire has an estimated population of around 51,500 people and resides on the lands of the Dja Dja Wurrung, Taungurung and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung peoples. Industries providing local employment in the shire are health care and social assistance, education and training, retail trade, agriculture, forestry and fishing. Tourism is also acknowledged as an important and growing industry for the shire.
